Kenney Z is an established percussionist and bass guitar player who writes and produces all his unique sounds in real time Some of his musical influences include, the Winans, Yolanda Adams, Earth, Wind and Fire, James Brown, Cameo, The Gap Band, George Clinton, The Jazz Crusaders, Ramsey Lewis, Grover Washington Jr., Norman Brown, Teddy Riley. D.J. Quik, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre are some of his musical proteges from Compton. A resident of Watts and Compton, Kenney Z emerged from the rubble of the Watts Riot. Surviving the street life of gangs and violence, he has evolved as a messenger of the gospel, reaching out to bring the youth to a higher consciousness of self-worth and dignity.
